Hi, I’m Yuko, a Product Designer with a strong Front End Development, Web and Graphic Design background.
I worked at the last company (Cornerstone OnDemand) as a Front End Developer for several years. I gained a lot of experience by building various HR Performance related features (React) including setting up, maintaining, and testing accessibility functionalities. I also was involved in the design process with other product designers and product managers. This whole process including accessibility, design and client feedback got me interested to think about and focus on user-centric experience design with “inclusiveness” in mind.
I thrive at problem solving. I enjoy to come up with new ideas that are outside of the box. With this mindset, changing my career path to UI/UX was a natural choice for me.

My Personal Life
I came to the United States about half of my life ago from Kamakura, Japan. I was a high school exchange student (in Idaho) once, and I was a hairstylist once before I moved on to the Tech world. And now, I became a mom of a 7-year-old son, Luca, after I met my husband, Frank, ten years ago.
This is my beloved family. We live in West Los Angeles (close to Santa Monica) and love to hike, go to the beach, and watch movies and sports together. Luca has a great sense of humor, like his father. 😄
We have a tuxedo girl cat, Kinu (2 years old). I am the cat lady, and my husband is the dog man. We all love Kinu since she was the first cat we adopted together 2 years ago. However, do you know who her favorite is? My husband, even though I'm the one, LOVES cats! 😒😂

I love being creative. However, I've never had enough time to learn something new (I was too busy learning JavaScript and React...). Thanks to the pandemic, I was able to try Sashiko Stitching, Water Color Painting, and now Zantangle (Doodling). I also help with my son's art projects (I'm more having fun than he is. 😂)

I love vintage art forms, especially from the 60s, such as fashion, furniture, and music. Classic Jazz is my favorite.
Madchester is a music scene (indie music) from Manchester, the UK, in the late 80s. Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, the Smith... If you lived in that era, you might like some bands from my list. 😊 This genre is another favorite of mine. ❤️ You also find some shoegaze music on the list.
